Forest Fringe Farm

Challenging the status quo of traditional farm branding

By Inbal Sella & Jewelyn Butron at 2Horses Studio

A diverse group of people dancing in a forest setting with "Forest Fringe" written over the image.

Welcome to the Fringe

Forest Fringe is a farm and artist residency run by self-described "misfits and outliers". As artists and community organizers, they were inspired to start a regenerative art farm as a place to nourish and inspire people. Their goal is to reshape the narrative about where food comes from and what food looks like.

Project Overview

The client came to us not looking for perfection or familiarity, but to challenge the status quo of traditional farm branding. The designs and strategy we created are inspired by the land and its "misfit" stewards.

Collage motifs and bold highlights evoke a cut-paste edgy aesthetic, while the playful illustrations and palette nod to the natural motifs found in the farm. The little orange newts that live in the forest serve as the unofficial mascot, playfully drawing you in, surrounded by moss greens and compost browns. We wanted to create a visual narrative that evokes the farm's rebellious yet sustainable and playful energy, serving as a soft landing for anyone needing to escape the city.

Three-panel advertisement featuring the text "Fresh food with a lot of culture." Each panel shows images of food, people preparing food, and people enjoying a communal experience outdoors. The ads promote a regenerative art farm, Forest Fringe, located in Bethel, NY, focused on bringing people together through food and art. Lush greenery is visible in the background.
